๐ Ford Explorer 3.5 V6 Fuel Economy
The Ford 3.5 EcoBoost is our favorite engine in 2011+ F-150 trucks. Itโs debatably the best gasoline F-150 engine option for its balance of performance, towing, and fuel economy. In the Ford F-150 the 3.5 EcoBoost offers anywhere from 365 to 450 horsepower. However, it also leaves a lot of untapped potential on the table.
The base engine would be fine, but if you are looking to do some towing I would prefer the 5.0 or the 3.5 Ecoboost. I currently lease a 2013 F-150 4x4 Lariat Super crew with the Ecoboost 3.5 and haven't had any issues with it in 40,000 miles. The fuel mileage is not great, but it is a damned nice truck.

The next step in the engine lineup for the 2014 Ford Explorer is the Duratec naturally aspirated (non-turbocharged) 3.5-liter V6. Tuners are the starting point in building a powerful F-150 3.5L EcoBoost. A tune alone on the twin turbo EcoBoost can add roughly 50-80whp and 70-120wtq. Great gains for a single mod that only costs around $500. Furthermore, a 3.5 EcoBoost tuner allows for bigger power gains when adding more performance upgrades.
